WHAT TO EXPECT
Treatment for addiction is difficult. There’s the uncertainty of really wanting to quit, whether it’s overeating, or drugs, or alcohol. What will life be like without my addiction? Will I be able to maintain my abstinence after I leave?
On top of all of that, it is HARD to change. To look in the mirror and really see what has happened to you is difficult and frightening. To “come clean” with family and friends is difficult…and necessary.
We are here for You.
At Green Gate Intensive, we understand that this is a difficult time for you, and we want to make it easier. The following is a brief description of what occurs when you enter our facility:
INITIAL ASSESSMENT: This initial assessment is critical because it involves the establishment of treatment goals. You will meet with a therapist who will take a comprehensive history, including all aspects of your life. Medical issues will be discussed, including head injury any history of head injury or other illnesses that may have impacted your physical health. Social, vocational, emotional, psychological and educational history will be discussed. This evaluation will take two to three hours to complete.
NEUROFEEDBACK EVALUATION: The neurofeedback evaluation explores the activity of your brain waves. Brain wave activity has an enormous effect on mood, sleep, substance and food abuse, and focus. This evaluation will measure brain wave activity at various sites. Prior to this evaluation, you will be asked to complete a symptom checklist that will help identify the problems that most affect your functioning. It is likely that these problems contribute to your addiction, and if treatment with neurofeedback is recommended, these problems will be minimized.
The initial treatment plan will help you identify goals that you wish to accomplish while at Green Gate Intensive. Your participation in the treatment plan is critical to your success. After all evaluations are completed, a second treatment plan will be developed.
You will also attend group therapy on the first day, as well as all other activities. Clients are encouraged to come in on a Monday when possible, so that the most is made out of the week .
ASYRA EVALUATION: This evaluation introduces you to the ASYRA machine, which is used to evaluate core issues and your nutritional status. You will receive feedback from this evaluation and results will be incorporated into your treatment plan.
SPIRITUAL COUNSELING: Also on Day two, you will meet with our pastoral counselor. Spirituality is a very critical aspect of recovery. Not specific to religion, spiritual belief allows a connection to the physical world and to the self. It allows for the exploration of human nature and purpose. The search for inner peace is a large part of spiritual growth. Some people find this in religion, but for those who do not, there is often a sense of absence or disconnectedness. Many times addicts will state that they have no spiritual identification. Our spiritual counselors can help you understand spirituality, whether in the context of the 12 Steps, specific religions, or agnostic belief systems.
INDIVIDUAL AND GROUP THERAPY:
You will also participate in individual and group therapy on this day, and complete neurofeedback treatment if it is part of your treatment plan.
Your treatment plan is now complete, and you are focused on meeting those goals. You will participate in individual, group, and family therapy when appropriate. Attendance at AA or NA meetings in the community will be encouraged at this juncture.
Your treatment team will meet to discuss your on-going care. The need for additional treatment will be determined within the first week. We will work closely together to make this process as productive and effective as possible.
Discharge planning begins at day one. If you are referred by a therapist, that therapist, with your consent, will participate in your treatment and aftercare. If there is no therapist, Green Gate staff will help you find someone in your area. Aftercare is critical for your success.

Extended care is available at Green Gate Intensive through our sober living option. You may receive therapy during your extended stay. You may choose to attend an outpatient program and remain at our facility while you complete this aspect of your care.
