Treatment Modalities

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

CBT is a therapy that has been empirically shown to be effective in the treatment of addictive disorders. CBT allows the individual to understand how thoughts influence feelings and behavior. This understanding allows an individual to view problems in a different way, facilitating behavioral change that is permanent and far-reaching. CBT is a theoretical cornerstone of the Greengate Intensive comprehensive approach to substance abuse treatment.

Asyra Technology

The Asyra technology provides a form of quantum biofeedback that is based upon the measurement of frequencies in the body. This advanced technology allows for the identification of multiple factors that block recovery from addiction. Included in this is the identification of core issues – those issues which direct our beliefs about the self. Core issue identification has been a cornerstone of psychotherapy for years, but this technology brings the issues to the forefront quickly and accurately, allowing for effective, maximum use of therapy time.

Neurofeedback

Neurofeedback is a form of biofeedback that allows an individual to learn ways to modify brain wave activity. Neurofeedback has been available in many forms for the last forty years. Greengate Intensive utilizes Neuropathways EEG TM technology for maximum speed and effectiveness. Research has demonstrated that neurofeedback is effective in the treatment of addictive disorders, insomnia, depression, anxiety and anger. Many addicts have experienced head injury, loss of oxygen to the brain, or other forms of injury that have affected the way in which the brain fires. The resulting symptoms often cause discomfort to an individual, which is temporarily alleviated through the use of substances. Neurofeedback can help to reduce the incidence of relapse through the correction of brain wave activity, often alleviating symptoms that contributed to substance use in the first place.

Emotional Skills Training

Addicts have a tendency to become isolated as their drug or alcohol use increases. Often they miss important emotional cues that allow them to understand their emotions, as well as the emotions of others. Management of emotion becomes more difficult as addiction progresses, and often there is a loss of emotional control. Skills that allow an individual to identify and be aware of one’s own and other’s emotions, to manage one’s own and other’s emotions, and to use emotions effectively are important assets in today’s society.

These skills together are often referred to as “emotional intelligence.” As part of the counseling services provided by Greengate Intensive, clients may participate in emotional skills training if appropriate. Staff at Greengate Intensive are on the cutting edge of research in the area of emotional intelligence and van help clients develop skills that will allow an easier transition back to “real life.”

Mindfulness Skills

Mindfulness techniques allow an individual to develop an awareness of internal thoughts and ways to change those thoughts so that anxiety is reduced and concentration is enhanced. Mindfulness teaches a person how to deal with distress in a more effective manner. The individual learns how to act, rather than react, thus making better and more appropriate life decisions. Relapse potential is reduced as the individual is better able to identity distress signals and use skills to avoid drug or alcohol use.

Detoxification

Greengate Intensive does not provide medically monitored detoxification. We will gladly refer you to a facility that provides that service. Once the acute phase of detoxification has passed, a client may enroll in Greengate Intensive for assessment and treatment.
