Post Traumatic Stress Disorder & PTSD treatment counseling therapy

At Greengate Intensive, we realize that PTSD can be challenging and disruptive for the entire family.  The individual who suffers from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder may seem to take on a different personality, or may easily anger.  We work closely with those who suffer from this disorder, and strongly believe that PTSD treatment counseling therapy is highly effective.  We understand how this condition affects not only the individual, but the nucleus of the family, and our primary focus is to help return a sense of security and normality so that life can become again what it once was.

Greengate Intensive offers PTSD treatment counseling therapy to help you.  The time it takes to treat you may range from a short time to several weeks, sometimes longer.  Individual people have varying degrees of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, and treatment is not the same for everyone.  One thing you should note:  If you have this disorder, using drugs or drinking alcohol will not help and in fact could make it more debilitating.  Treatment counseling therapy for PTSD may include talking, medication or both, depending upon the level of severity.

Are You Familiar with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)?

When unusual events happen in your life that are unpleasant or even life-threatening, Posttraumatic Stress Disorder can be the result.  You may feel out of control, even afraid that your life or someone else's is in danger.  Certain events can bring on these feelings, including things such as child sexual or physical abuse, severe accidents, and military exposure.  Other events that are out of your control like weather related catastrophes may also be responsible.

A few other causes of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder may include:

Witnessing a Violent Act, Such as Rape

Terrorist Incidents

Death or Serious Illness of a Loved One

Of course, everyone is individual so there are many other circumstances that may be responsible for PTSD.

Many people often wonder how to know if they actually have Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.  There are a few symptoms, but it does not mean that you absolutely have it.  Speak with your doctor if you experience many of the symptoms below:

Frightening thoughts you can't control
Trouble sleeping
Feeling anxious or on edge
Thoughts of hurting yourself or someone else
Feelings of guilt, sadness or worry
Flashbacks to the time of the event
Bad or troubling dreams
Outbursts of intense anger

Most of the time, people learn to deal with circumstances beyond their control.  Occasionally, some people are not so fortunate and live with feelings of confusion, anger and fright for an unusually extended period of time.  It seems that these feelings get worse and will not subside.  If this describes you or someone you love, PTSD may be to blame.  Posttraumatic Stress Disorder often makes normal life impossible.  You may not even be able to deal with everyday activities that you once did.

Dealing with this disorder using PTSD treatment counseling therapy can be extremely beneficial for most people.  Getting rid of the fright, anxiety, anger and other feelings you may have is possible, and you can be normal once again.
